Using the senses to support wellbeing

Hello and welcome to 2024! My name is Jade and I am one of the counsellors here at the wonderful Phoenix Wings Wellness. I wanted to give a gentle reminder to everyone that whilst some of us have had a break over the Christmas period and new year, we often are flung very quickly into life's hustle and bustle again. This is something i can personally relate to. Please see below a little fact sheet on our 8 senses and how we experience sensory input from the world around us.

We can use our senses to tune into our surroundings and bring present body awareness to the here and now. Perhaps we can go a step further in this process and ask ourselves what it is we are lacking and what it is we need. This might be more quiet time to think and process, more social time to dance and move energy through our bodies, or even to indulge in a massage or some aromatherapy.

Take a moment to make a declaration to give yourself what it is asking for in the form of a small self care activity that is both sustainable and achievable, but also consistent. If you feel like you're in a state of overwhelm and can’t think or process, listen to your body and "switch off". Put your phone on silent, turn the radio off, get out of the office or house for a walk. Make 2024 a marathon and not a sprint. Have a beautiful week and we here at Phoenix Wings Wellness cant wait to see what you achieve for yourself in 2024.
