Melanie Kilo has a Masters in Social Work, and is an accredited mental health social worker in private practice at Phoenix Wings Wellness in Wodonga, Corowa, and Wagga.

Janene Castillo holds a Diploma of Fine Arts, is a professional artist, and runs The Artspot Wodonga, a local art school. Her activities include Creativity for Wellbeing workshops and private sessions.

Mel and Janene have both completed the 2 year course of Initiatic Art Therapy, and the 1 year course of Clay Field Therapy through the Institute for Sensorimotor Arts Therapy. Janene has also completed her Diploma in Sensorimotor Art Therapy. Currently both Mel (3rd year) and Janene (2nd year) are studying for their Masters in Therapeutic Arts Practice at MIECAT.


Mel and Janene are now offering this opportunity for professionals to experience an

Introduction to Initiatic Art Therapy skills.


By the end of Workshop 1, you will have experienced how Initiatic Art Therapy practice may be used to engage with your clients, as well as have an opportunity to learn more about yourself.

Participants will attend the 6.5 hour Introduction to Initiatic Art Therapy Workshop Part 1, which will involve the following:

• Experiential initiatic art therapy techniques which may be used to engage with a variety of clients, including children and young people.

• Learning beginning art therapy strategies as part of a calming and regulation toolbox.


As a result the participants will be able to:

• Use basic Initiatic art therapy methods for engagement, resilience, and calming

• Begin to build an art therapy toolbox for regulation and calming

• Potentially experience their own personal growth through the processes


By the end of Workshop 2 (for people who have completed part 1), you will have experienced for a second time how Initiatic Art Therapy practice may be used to engage with your clients, as well as have further opportunities to learn more about yourself.

Participants will attend the 6.5 hour Introduction to Initiatic Art Therapy Workshop Part 2, which will involve the following:

• Experiential initiatic art therapy techniques which may be used to engage with a variety of clients, including children and young people.

• Learning further art therapy strategies as part of a calming and regulation toolbox.


As a result the participants will be able to:

• Use increased basic Initiatic art therapy methods for engagement, resilience, and calming

• Continue to build an art therapy toolbox for regulation and calming

• Potentially experience their own personal growth through the processes


A certificate of attendance will be provided.

Investment: $260 per person, per workshop (including GST), limited places available.

Morning and afternoon tea provided, please bring your own lunch.
