Melanie Kilo - Accredited Mental Health Social Worker and Professional Creative Arts Therapist
I am Melanie Kilo, a seasoned clinician and dedicated guide for professionals in the allied health sector. With over 14 years as a Social Worker, 11 years in successful private practice at Phoenix Wings Wellness, and 6 years as a Professional Creative Arts Therapist, I bring extensive, grounded experience to my work.
I am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AASW), a supervisor who has completed specialized arts-based supervision training with ANZACATA, and the current facilitator of the local Creative Therapies Network. My commitment to guidance was ignited by my own experience of being supported through supervision and mentorship as I made the leap into private practice 11 years ago.
I have supervised social workers, mental health nurses, counsellors, psychotherapists, creative arts therapists, and students of these professions in a variety of roles, including family services.
Clinical Supervision & Reflective Practice
I offer a reflective practice style supervision based on a heart-centred philosophy, where I believe our bodies know best how to work. The key to greater authenticity and strength in practice is often learning and reflecting on what our bodies are telling us. My approach integrates this practice and strongly supports neurodivergence in the workplace.
Outcomes you can expect from supervision:
Feeling supported in your practice as an allied health professional.
A supervision space that is expansive, meets you where you are at, and is free from shame.
A space of validation you might not realise you are needing, in order to build confidence as a practitioner.
Structure & Focus:
Supervision is available for social workers pursuing Mental Health Accreditation.
It focuses on clinical case-loads, reflective practice, and navigating ethical dilemmas.
Sessions are recommended on a monthly basis, but can be arranged more or less often depending on your professional needs. Sessions are usually 50-60 minutes, but longer can be negotiated upon request.
Private Practice Mentoring & Business Development
For professionals transitioning into or scaling their independent businesses, I provide focused support and knowledge in setting up your own private practice and building it up.
Outcomes you can expect from mentoring:
Clear business and marketing planning.
Support in identifying your niches and spaces to work in.
Gaining the confidence and systems knowledge necessary to successfully establish your business.
I have successfully mentored over 10 practitioners who are now running their own thriving practices. These supervision and mentoring services can be offered separately or together to meet your unique clinical and business needs.
