Anthony Nguyen (Masters of Social Work student)

Areas of Interest:

  • Alcohol and other drugs

  • Supporting and mentoring young men

  • Youth justice

Hello, my name is Anthony (he/him).

I’m a Master of Social Work student completing my placement at Phoenix Wings Wellness. I have a strong interest in alcohol and other drugs (AOD) counselling and in working with young men.

I’m drawn to working with people who have had a hard start in life and are starting to think about change. That might include people who have lived with substance use, family violence or contact with the justice system, or who have faced other big challenges, and who are wondering about a different direction.

I take a thoughtful, reflective and non-judgemental approach. I like to take the time to listen and to understand what matters most to you. I believe everyone has strengths and the capacity to change, and that your past doesn’t have to decide your future.

My aim is a space where you can speak openly and be respected. I won’t tell you what you should do. Instead, I’m interested in helping you explore your own motivations, notice your strengths and work out practical next steps towards the changes you want.

A little about me

Albury has been home for the past six years. I live here with my blended family, and I’m a proud stepdad to three kids. We also have two dogs, Sam the Staffy and Ted the Jack Russell.

Outside of work and study, you’ll find me woodworking, tackling DIY projects or tinkering on my own car. I’ve always liked working out how things work, solving problems and the satisfaction of building or fixing something myself.

Availability
I'm available Tuesdays and Wednesdays for individual case management sessions in Albury.
