I believe the arts can make it easier to talk about the hard things.
As a Creative Arts Therapist, I'm curious about what happens when creativity and neuroscience meet, the way making something with your hands, writing without a plan, or moving instead of talking can reach things a straight conversation sometimes can't. I've seen it open doors for people who've felt stuck or unheard in more traditional talk-based approaches.
My practice is shaped by a diverse background in teaching, disability support and mental health, along with a strong interest in neuroscience and the ways creative experiences can support emotional and psychological wellbeing. These experiences have deepened my understanding of the many different ways people communicate, connect, learn and navigate life's challenges.
I value each person's individual story and believe that our experiences, relationships, strengths and interests all contribute to who we are.
Outside the therapy room, I'm usually to be found with a notebook in hand, my own creative writing is where I get to be the one making meaning rather than helping someone else find theirs. The rest of my time goes to family, friends, and being outdoors.
I look forward to meeting you and working alongside you.
My approach is warm, creative, person-centred and holistic, grounded in neuro-affirming and trauma-informed practice. I value different ways of thinking, communicating, processing and experiencing the world, and adapt therapy to each person's individual needs, strengths and preferences.
Creative Arts Therapy offers ways to explore experiences, thoughts and emotions when words alone may not be enough. The creative process can become a "third person" in the room, providing another way to express and make sense of difficult experiences.
Sessions are collaborative and may include art-making, storytelling, creative writing, movement, play or other forms of creative expression. No artistic experience or ability is needed, the focus is on the process and what it means to you.
Together, we can explore experiences and patterns, build greater self-understanding, recognise strengths and discover new ways of navigating life's challenges. Therapy moves at your pace, with choice and flexibility in how you participate.
